Notion shows why distribution can come from workflows, not just campaigns.
Templates, communities, and user-generated workflows turned Notion usage into acquisition surface area.

The important distinction
Notion did not rely on one channel. Its growth came from the product being flexible enough that users could show their own systems, templates, and workflows in public.
That made distribution feel native. A template is not just content. It is a product preview, an activation shortcut, and a proof asset at the same time.
The IDC takeaway
A client’s growth plan should not default to paid ads. Paid can accelerate learning, but content, partnerships, outbound, SEO, referrals, communities, product-led loops, and founder-led selling can all matter depending on the business.
The job is to find the motion that matches the offer, margin, buyer, and sales cycle.
What to build
Turn repeated delivery assets into public demand assets: calculators, templates, audit pages, teardown posts, demo tools, and proof libraries. The best marketing asset often starts as a useful operating tool.
