Superhuman made product-market fit measurable before scaling.

The powerful part of the Superhuman story is not the survey. It is the operating system built around the answers.

A better question

Superhuman used a simple question to find signal: how disappointed would users be if they could no longer use the product? The famous benchmark is useful, but the operational follow-up is where the value lives.

They segmented users, identified who loved the product, learned what those users valued, and used that information to prioritize the roadmap.

Why this matters for MVPs

Most MVPs fail because the team treats shipping as the finish line. Shipping is only the first test. The real work is learning which users care, why they care, and what would make more of the right users care faster.

IDC’s studio work should use this logic: build the smallest useful version, instrument the right feedback, and avoid pretending every feature request deserves equal weight.

The operating move

Before scaling marketing, define the product’s strongest user segment and the behavior that proves value. Then connect product improvements, positioning, and acquisition around that signal.
